MEIKO and a sustainable hotel industry are a perfect match.

MEIKO and a sustainable hotel industry are a perfect match.

Quick successes are great, but what really counts is foresight. Our motto at MEIKO is therefore: We don't think in quarters, but in generations. And so our profession has been the same for almost a century: making the world a cleaner place. With innovative warewashing technology and intelligent food waste management. We started out in a garage in the Black Forest, but today MEIKO machines in over 90 countries ensure sustainable processes and hygiene safety in the best homes in the world. They include beacons of the sustainable hotel industry, such as the Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel, Singapore's first zero waste hotel. A closer look at what Meiko does

As a foundation-managed company, we are guided by predetermined values and maxims. This means uncompromising premium quality in all our solutions, long-term partnerships and the protection of people and nature. Sustainable management is therefore part of our DNA. And so we love innovation, but always preserve what is important.
"We have grown and so has our responsibility: today we have a global responsibility. Our first sustainability report provides you with comprehensive information on the strategies and measures we intend to use in the future to promote the protection of people, the environment and the climate. Our MEIKO 2025 vision sets the course for even more sustainable corporate management: whether in production, in the development of our machine technology or our infrastructure, in our purchasing policy, management culture and supply chains. We have the big picture in mind: ecological, economic and social responsibility." Nachhaltigkeit Meiko

Professional food waste management

Professional food waste management

Today, over 1,000 of our systems are already helping to generate electricity from food waste, reduce operating costs and streamline work processes in professional kitchens. With solutions from our MEIKO GREEN product range, the collection, processing and storage of leftovers is as flexible and customised as possible for hotels of all sizes. We have recognised food waste and organic kitchen waste for what it really is: a valuable raw material. One that inevitably arises and contains pure energy. Not only that: it also saves money for kitchen operators. Discover more

Speaking of energy: even MEIKO warewashing technology sets technical standards worldwide and is an elementary component of every sustainable hotel kitchen. Heat recovery, sophisticated energy concepts and filter systems, active saving of fresh water, precise and automated dosing of dishwashing chemicals and a recycling rate of up to 90 % thanks to the use of stainless steel instead of plastic are just a few examples.

Sustainability means attention to detail: dishwashing technology including food waste management from a single source delivers real synergies. Whether small glasswashers or complex warewashing systems with a high degree of automation and leftover utilisation: we take up the needs of our customers and implement them. Staff shortages, ergonomics, operating costs, environmental protection - wherever there is a need to catch up, MEIKO machines can help. For example, we implement intelligent reusable systems with tens of thousands of cups at festivals, for coffee on the way to work or bowls and glass bottles in the catering trade: disposable is not an option!

However, when it comes to sustainability, even the best technology alone is not enough. And certainly not with fine words. That's why we go into great detail and fine-tune all processes - for the benefit of people, the environment and the climate. Photovoltaic systems, clever building technology, heat pumps, green electricity, reforestation, bicycle leasing for employees, support for research institutions such as the Regional Energy Innovation Centre (RIZ) and much more. The list is long, because sustainability needs to be practised and this naturally also applies to internal processes along the entire value chain.

"The greatest danger to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it," says British polar explorer and environmentalist Robert Swan. Dr Dipl.-Ing. Thomas Peukert, CEO of the MEIKO Group, summarises Swan's words in his own way: "The greatest opportunity for our planet is the chance for each of us to start doing something right now that contributes to the sustainability account." Every MEIKO machine is a step in this direction.
