In 2024, we continued to invest in active environmental protection and the sustainable use of our resources. We have consistently and continuously reduced our carbon footprint. We offset CO₂ emissions that cannot yet be avoided in collaboration with ClimatePartner. In doing so, we provide financial support to certified climate protection projects for a specific volume of emissions. Indirect emissions arising outside the company – such as those from the production of raw materials and intermediate products, external logistics, and the use and disposal of products or other processes – are not covered by our climate neutrality commitment. All of ClimatePartner’s climate protection projects meet strict criteria defined by recognised international standards. Among other things, the projects must be regularly audited by independent auditors. Our project identifies and repairs broken drinking water wells in the Zoba Maekel district, which is located in central Eritrea and has a high poverty rate. Many boreholes belong to community-based organisations (CBOs) and are no longer functioning because maintenance programmes were poorly managed or proved too expensive. Our project supports the communities in repairing the wells, thereby ensuring a long-term supply of clean drinking water.

Staatl. Fachingen has long since become an iconic brand – a cultural asset with a unique history stretching back 280 years. In 1740, the Fachingen spring was discovered near the banks of the River Lahn. Legend has it that a boatman from Cologne was cured of his digestive ailments by drinking from this spring. The first analysis of the spring was carried out by the district physician Dr Forell in 1742; since then, 1742 has been regarded as the official year of foundation of Staatl. Fachingen. In 1746, plans to tap the spring were approved, and in that very same year, Fachinger water began to be distributed in specially made earthenware jugs. Letters dating from 1817 reveal that Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, one of Germany’s greatest poets, was also a devoted connoisseur of Fachinger water. In 1914, over 6 million litres of Fachinger were sold, and by 1929, sales had already exceeded ten million bottles. In the decades that followed, the brand’s rapid rise and excellent reputation continued unabated. In 2011, Deutsche Sinalco GmbH Markengetränke & Co. KG acquired the Fachinger spring and its brands. In 2017, the brand celebrated its 275th anniversary.
